Why I Started LaBio Media

After years of working at the intersection of science and visual communication, I started LaBio Media to bring scientific understanding and creative production together. In this post, I share what inspired me to build an independent studio dedicated to helping researchers and science-focused organisations communicate their work clearly and creatively.

After years of working in scientific research environments, I decided to take a step towards something of my own: LaBio Media.

My background is in biology and biomedical imaging, and since 2017, I have worked at the intersection of science, technology and visual communication. Through video, photography, graphic design and web development, I've had the opportunity to help researchers and research organisations share their work in different ways.

Over time, I realised how much I enjoy bringing these areas together. Research can be fascinating, but communicating complex ideas clearly and engagingly takes more than scientific knowledge alone. It requires understanding the subject, finding the right story and choosing the right way to present it.

That is what led me to start LaBio Media.

I wanted to build a small, independent studio where scientific understanding and creative production come together. A place where research groups and organisations can find practical, thoughtful support, whether they need a website, a research video, scientific figures, photography or a visual identity.

Taking LaBio Media public is an exciting next step. Much of the work so far has happened behind the scenes: developing the studio, bringing the website together and shaping the services around the needs of the people I hope to work with.

Now, I'm looking forward to connecting with more researchers, research organisations and science-focused businesses, learning about their work and helping them communicate it more effectively.

LaBio Media is built around a simple idea: good research deserves good communication. I'm excited to see where that idea leads.
